SUSTAINED ADVOCACY FOR THE PROPOSED BENUE STATE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION BILL

Women Environmental Programme (WEP)’s relentless advocacy for the passage of a proposed bill to establish a youth development commission in Benue state has seen the bill receive great endorsements and support from stakeholders.

At the Advocacy Roundtable for the proposed bill, stakeholders unanimously implored for continued support to ensure speedy passage of the proposed bill to establish a Benue State Youth Development Commission. Stakeholders agreed that a youth development commission was imperative to reducing violence and securing the state since youth development and peace go hand in hand.

Youth engagement was also encouraged as it was opined that the state could only be repositioned properly if a plan to mitigate the many challenges of her teeming youth is addressed systemically.
