WEP pressed on for the actualization of the proposed Benue Youth Development Commission Bill

Stakeholders engagement is important as it determines the success and sustainability of projects. For Women Environmental Programme (WEP), engaging stakeholders at every phase of the project, do not only bring success but also gives a sense of ownership.
As part of our stakeholders engagement activities, WEP carried out advocacy to the State House of Assembly Benue State, Makurdi.
The aim of the visit was to get updates on the proposed Benue Youth Development Commission Bill  proposed by WEP.
During the visit, the Team met with the Clerk of the House, Barrister Bernard Nule, the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports Honorable Kwaghkudi Thomas and the House Majority Leader RT Hon. Damian Cheme JP. They reaffirmed their commitment to ensure that the bill is presented to the House as soon as seating resumes. They also gave assurance that the Law Makers are committed to the passage of the bill into law.
The proposed Benue State Youth Development Commission Bill when passed will pave way for the establishment of a Benue State Youth Development Commission which will adequately promote and support  youth engagement towards entrenching a structured and sustainable youth empowerment system.
This engagement is part of WEP’s Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) project being funded by Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) in Benue state.
