WEP ORGANIZES MULTI-STAKEHOLDER PEACE/PVE DIALOGUE IN BENUE STATE
Women Environmental Programme (WEP) held a One-day Multi-Stakeholder Peace/PVE Dialogue at Benue Hotels, Makurdi to sensitize and rally support for the passage of a bill to establish a Benue State Youth Development Commission.
Participants at the event comprised of stakeholders from various pressure groups, MDAs and CSOs. Stakeholders came up with suggestions, recommendations and deliberate steps and decisive actions they would take and push to prevent the spread of violent extremism in the state which also included the establishment of a Youth Development Commission in Benue State. Participants opined that institutionalizing a systemic and sustainable agency to oversee youth welfare would reduce their vulnerability to recruitment and radicalization into violent extremism thereby reducing their potential for participating in violent confrontations and greatly reduce insecurity in the state.
This activity was funded by Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund
(GCERF) and is part of our PVE intervention in Benue State under the project: “Connecting Women and Youth in Violent Extreme Prone Areas Through Empowerment and Skill Acquisition in Benue State Phase II”.
