WEP Launches PVE Project in Katsina State, North West Nigeria
Our GCERF funded PVE Intervention in Katsina State, North West Nigeria was officially launched on Friday 11th March, 2022. To be implemented in Dutsin-Ma, Funtua, Jibia and Musawa Local Govenrment Areas of the State in its first phase, the project has as target beneficiaries un or under-employed young women and young men, traditional rulers, religious leaders and governance actors. We seek to achieve strengthened resilience of communities against violent extremism through the numerous activities under the project.
Titled Strethening Advocacy Against Violent Extremism (SAVE), the project was flagged off by the Secretary to Katsina State Government who was represented at the event by Hajia Rabi Muhammed Daura the Commissioner for Women Affairs. The event had in attendance The GCERF Country Manager for Nigeria Mr. Gianluigi Lopes, GCERF National Coordinator Ms. Yetunde Adegoke, the Head Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) Unit, Office of the National Security Adviser Hajia Mairo Musa Abbas, representative of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajia Nadia Soso Muhammad, traditional rulers, representatives of various state ministries, CSOs and the heads of security agencies in the state. In his remarks on behalf of benefiting communities the Yandakan Katsina Hakimin Dutsin-Ma, Alhaji Sada Muhammed Sada appreciated WEP for choosing Katsina State and pledged the full support, cooperation and collaboration of target communities towards the successful implementation of activities as well as the sustainability of the initiatives of the project.
