High stakes, great urgency: collecting evidence for gender-just and impactful climate policies

The 56th session of the subsidiary bodies will take place at the World Convention Center Bonn, Germany.

The CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform, Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF)  and Women Environment Programme (WEP) have co-organized an official side event at the Bonn Climate Change Conference.

The event, to be held on June 14, 10.30 am – 12.00pm WAT,  will showcase  actions from different stakeholders to advance the Gender Action Plan & national climate roadmaps.  CGIAR GENDER will further present new evidence from a hotspot mapping methodology that has revealed where climate change hits women the hardest, thereby providing direction where investments in actions to address these inequalities should focus on.

Objectives

• Inform decision-making bodies, policymakers, and practitioners on the cross-cutting benefits of locally owned and gender-responsive climate mitigation and adaptation actions
• Underline the need to support the collection of evidence base and disaggregated data to demonstrate the impact of gender-responsive solutions
• Build bridges and open new spaces for exchange experiences and views among local practitioners, researchers, and policymakers
• Contribute to the GAP mandate and review (focusing on Activities A4, B3 and D4) through the dissemination of local good practices that can be replicated in regional and national contexts.
