Damaris Uja
Damaris Uja is Monitoring and Evaluation Manager at Women Environmental Programme. She holds a B.Sc. (ED) degree in Biology from Benue State University Makurdi, M.Sc. in Environmental Resource Management from Nasarawa State University Keffi and Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy (Specialized in International Development) from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
In addition to the educational trainings, she has acquired other professional certification some of these include; Protection of Civilians (POC), Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) and Peace and Conflict Analysis/Resolution, Project Management for Development Professional (PM4NGOs), Oxford Climate Society (School of Climate Change2022) and the Urban Leaders– Global Program 2021: empowering women through knowledge and mentoring is a Leadership Program.
In a quest to build a good career, she has worked with different organizations to develop her skills and achieve high career growth. She is very passionate about humanitarian activities and has had a long yearning to work in the development sector. She joined WEP on 31st October, 2016 where she has been actively involved in proposal development, project implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation. Damaris also represents the organisation at National, Regional and Global Meetings, because of her active participation at these events she was asked to present a statement on behalf of the Women’s Major Group during the Fourth Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA4). Damaris has won both professional and service awards.
She has over 6years progressive experience in Gender, Climate Change, Biodiversity Conservation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding specifically on Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE), policy development, Training and Facilitation.
