Building the next generation of African feminist climate activists

Early this year, Women Environmental Programme enrolled 10 young African feminists into its Climate Justice Advocacy Mentorship.
The 10 young feminists have been undergoing trainings on climate change negotiations and leadership. This programme aims to strengthen the capacities of the beneficiaries on advocating for accelerated implementation of gender-just climate action and sustainable development (2030 Agenda) and addressing structural barriers to gender equality.
As part of the programme, beneficiaries have the opportunity to participate in global and regional climate change events to have practical experiences on climate change negotiations and leadership.
Christiana Rosha, from GREEN GIRLS PLATFORM in Malawi, one of the beneficiaries of the Climate Justice Advocacy Mentorship is participating at COP29 Azerbaijan where she is being exposed to practical experience of climate change negotiations and connecting with other feminists climate activists from different parts of the world.
Young people are at the heart of what we do as they are inter-generational leaders to uphold the present efforts to achieving a sustainable and just world.
Thanks to WECF International and the European Commission for supporting us to build young leaders.
